TNA IMPACT 1/17/07

Sting beat up Mitchell.

Mitchell won't tell sting why Abyss was in jail

Christian has a special enforcer for Angle. Angle wants to know who, crowd chants RVD (XD)

other random stuff happens involving lower midcard and jobbers

AJ "WHOOOOOOOP DEEEEE DOOOOOO"

Angle fights AJ

AJ plays cowardly heel (<3)

Sting finds Abyss in the ring and pokes him with a bat

Abyss "NOOOOOOOOOO!"

The End.

Yeah TNA has sorta been pretty bad lately... rather sad considering the talent that TNA has to work with. Hopefully two hours will be what they need to get better.

I might make a longer post elaborating on my thoughts about TNA and it's booking later but right now im trying to finish up my Glory By Honor V review.

ROH - Glory By Honor V Night 2 review

Lately I've been doing some catch up work on ROH, I recently ordered a few DVD's. Just initial impressions of looking at the card it seems like it should be a very good show so here's my match by match breakdown.

Jack Evans vs Davey Richards

This was a great match to start the show, Evans got in a good amount of offense right at the beginning before Richards was able to ground him. Richards was put Evans in the stretch muffler twice, getting him to tap out the second. Just and overall fun match.
**3/4

Adam Pearce vs Delirious

This match comes as a result of Delirious demanding bigger matches from Jim Cornetter. This is definately a coward heel vs babyface match and both Pearce and Delirious do both well. THe match starts with Pearce attacking Delirious as he enters the ring. Back and forth action until near the end until Delirious hits 60 clotheslines in the corner and a bulldog for a near fall. As Delirious went up for shadows over hell Shane Hagadorn runs to ringside and clocks Delirious with a set of knucks, then rolls under the ring. Pearce gets the 3 count and celebrates with Hagadorn after telling the crowd that he was his "new man servant" (not even going there...) and sharing a big hug.
**1/2

Jimmy Jacobs vs Colt Cabana vs Christopher Daniels

Not much of a match really to speak of here. Jimmy in his endless attempts to appease Lacey pins Cabana after being forbade by Lacey to harm him, there was some wrestling in there, not a whole lot, but it was still thoroughly entertaining.

Samoa Joe & Homicide vs Jay & Mark Briscoe

Jim Cornette is in the ring before the start of the match and cuts a promo outlining the fued between him and Homicide, Cornette puts a stipulation on the match that if Homicide doesn't win then he doesn't get a title shot until next year (which is now this year...). Cornette instructs the Briscoes to mame Homicide and leaves the ring. Joe and Homicide hit the ring and the match starts as Cide and Joe put both Briscoes over the top rope and both hit suicide dives. Joe and Cide continue to have the upper hand for a few minutes, and both teams get in some back and forth action. After a big exchange were everyone gets laid out Homocide hits the cop killa for the 1-2-3. Very exciting match

ROH World Tag Team Titles Match
Austin Aeris & Roderick Strong vs Chris Hero & Claudio Castagnoli

Both teams in the ring and the match starts, the champs get in some early offense, until the Kings of Wrestling are able to single out Aeris and focus on his broken ribs. After a good while Aeris is able to tag out and Strong puts both Hero and Castagnoli out. Hero and Castagnoli are able to single out Strong and after Aeris interferes Castagnoli hits Aeris in the ribs with a briefcase and the Kings of Wrestling Pick up the win. Overall this was a great match. I think it would have been better if Aeris and Strong had gotten in more offense but other then that really no complaints to be made.
***3/4

GHC Heavyweight Title Match
Naomichi Marufuji vs. Nigel McGuiness

Both guys makes their entances and the ring announcer reads of the formalities of the title match, they both shake hands and the bell rings, and the match is under way. Both men lockup and nigel pushes maru into the ropes, lockup again and Maru puts Nigel in the ropes, Both men trade holds and Nigel gets Marufuji in a headscissors. Fuji fights out and Nigel gets a wrists lock, Fuji grabs the ropes and reverses into a wrist lock of his own, Nigel fights out and has a headlock on Fuji. Fuji gets a leg on the rope and Nigel breaks the hold both men lock up again and exchange fore arms, Marufji hits a dragonscrew from the ring apron. Fuji continues to work the leg with kicks and a few holds in the corner. Nigel is on the mat and Marufuji hits a good ten kicks on Nigels leg. Marufuji uses the ring post to work Nigels leg from the outside. Fuji gets back in the ring and puts Nigel ina figure 4 leg lock. Both men exchange slaps and Nigel gets his hand on the rope and rolls out of the ring to take time and recover. Nigel get back onto the ring rope and Marufuji dropkicks the leg. Marufuji misses a shoulder block and goes shoulder first into the ring post. Nigel whips fuji into the railing and hits three headbutts to the shoulder of Marufuji. Back into the ring and Nigel continues to work the arm. Nigel continues to damage the arm and goes for 3 2-counts. Nigel continues to work on the arm of Marufuji. Nigel hits a HUGE lariat and gets a near fall. Nigel continues to work on the neck/shoulder area of Marufuji. Marufuji fights out and kicks out Nigels knee and hits a clothesline. Marufuji hits a flying elbow in the corner, and Nigel hits another lariat for a near fall. Nigel hits a mule kick from the corner and gets another near fall. Nigel puts Marufuji on the top rope and goes for the lariat but Marufuji ducks and hits a huge Shiranui down to the floor. Nigel out on the floor and Naomichi rolls back in, Nigel crawling towards the ring and gets back in at a 17 count. Naomichi go's for a pin but only gets a 2 count, Nigels mounts Marufuji on the top rope again and this time hits the lariat, for another near count. Nigel hits the tower of london and Marufuji no sells it and hits a Shiranui, both men are out on the mat. both men get back on and exchange strikes. Nigel hits another huge lariat, and Marufuji kicks out at 2 9/10. The fans start the "THIS IS AWESOME!" chant and so far I can't disagree. Nigels mounts Marufuji and hits the tower of london onto the apron and both men are out of the floor again. Both men are back in the ring at 15 and slaps exchanged and both men hit big superkicks, Marufuji puts Nigel back on the mat for a 2 count. Nigel whipped into the forner and goes of up a mule kick but Marufuji kicks him right in the teeth. Marufuji Hits the top rope shiranui and gets the 3 count.
An absolutely awesome awesome match. very well paced, with some great chain wrestling before both men went for the big moves. The spots near the end were very well done, although I felt that the ending was sort of cheap. Nigel did hit the tower of london TWICE and Marufuji just hit his finisher once and it was over. Other than that no real complaints can be made for this match. 4 snowflaker easily.

SD! 1/5/07 PBP

Welcome to my first real post on WrestleBlog, I'll be keeping a running review during the show and I'll add in thoughts about the whole thing at the end. So without further ado I'll ge this underway.

The show kicks off with Teddy out to announce a "beat the clock sprint" tournament, It seems that the premise is random matches will be put together and whoever is able to win in the shortest amount of time will win a title shot. Batista comes out and gives his whole "I worked hard to get this and I will continue to work hard" stating that he loves the idea of the tournament.
They don't waste anytime getting this tournament underway, anouncing the first match as Kane vs Chavo Guerrero.
Kane vs Chavo Guerrero
Chavo comes out looking rather preturbed that he has to face off agaisnt Kane, the bell rings and the first minute or so Chavo gets in multiple quick pin attempts until the match is taken out of the ring, Chavo puts Kane headfirst into the steps and gets back in the ring, Kane gets back in the ring at the 9 count, Momentum swings back in Kane's favor with an electric chair, Kane gets a pin attempt but Chavo gets a fot on the rope, Chokeslam for the 1 2 3 ending the match at 7:53.
Star rating: **

We come back from the commercial break and get a peak at Maryse, a new diva from france.
Paul London vs Brian Kendrick
The tournament continues as the tag champs are matched up, 2 quick pin attempts right away, into back and forth holds, some good chain wrestling being put on by these two, rathe unexpected. Two more quick roll ups, into a test of strength, leading to multiple pin attempts. The match continues to be counter after counter, the two scouting each other well, both go a big flying cross body and both collide, both get back to their feet after a 6 count. With less the a minute left bog moonsault from Kendrick into a pin, reversed into another pin by London. The clock runs out and Ashley comes down to check on Londong and Kendrick, the match goes to a no decision...
another fun match, nothing super great, and I'm still confused by the ending but ehh
Star Rating: **

Commercials end and JBL is in the ring accusing the audience of being blood thirsty and that they were the ones responsible for MVP's burns, MVP enters the ring, MVP states all the things he could'nt do while in the hospital, and that he after hearing about the tournament that he decided to stop feeling sorry for himself and get out of bed and start the healing process. Funny thing is that was a very Face promo yet he got a fair amount of boo's.

Commercial break is over once again, and Sharmel is in the ring giving King Booker his intro. Booker comes out pinky extended and ready for a fight. And Booker's opponent Gregory Helms.

King Booker vs Gregory Helms
Two good matches so far and what looks to be another good one. The bells rings and the circle each other, Helms hitting big rights on Booker, with more big fists. This match taking a rather different approach then the last as they continue to go for big hits early, Booker with a superkick and a near fall. Helms fights his way out of the corner, Booker taking JBL's advice and cheating early with a thumb to the eye. Helms get a near fall, and another. More back and forth and Booker takes his time to pose before a near fall. Helms with a big uppercut and missile dropkick for another near fall, Helms with a crossbody from the top rope for a 2 count. Helms avoids a scissors kick and after a distraction by sharmell Booker gets the 3 count. Booker on his way out and the Boogeymans music hits, Boogeyman in the ring after Helms, foaming at the mouth, and worms. The new time to beat set by King Booker is 6:24.
Star rating: *1/2

Back from the break and theres a video package of "The Evolution of Batista", not much to say about that so I'll just get in some thoughts here really quick. The night opened with a pretty darn good match, I expected Chavo to get buried by Kane but he got in some good offense making his seem credible while still putting Kane over, well paced just fun stuff. The second match wasn't at all what I expected, I went into that expecting a big flippy flippy headrop match, but instead got some very nice chain wrestling, I thought the no contest ending was rather lame but oh well. The Helms/Booker wasn't to bad did a good job of making Helms seem credible until the whole boogeyman thing. And as a nice compliment to the so far good wrestling MVP's promo was actually pretty darn good, good charisma, actually talked fluently, possible set up for face turn(?), overall good show so far.

Back to the action and start off with a Divas match
Ashley vs Jillian
Sandwich break
Ham and chavarti Cheese on Wheat
Sandwich rating: *****

Tatanka vs Jimmy Wang Yang
Before this even start im predicting total crap. Is the mustache fake? If it is I think it would be really funny if it fell off during a match. Alright well I can't imagine either of these guys getting a shot so this is probably gonna go over the time limit, but I'm just zoning it out. Yeah I was right. So is WWE gonna bring Burchill back with his pirate gimmick and have a Pirates vs Indians vs Cowboys fued? PLEEEEASE?!?!

Ugh this Guerrero family feud crap needs to end, I'd rather not even watch this pleeeease give us another match.

Okay back to actual wrestling

Mr Kennedy vs "The Rabid Wolverine" Chris Benoit
Now here's a match I can get behind, Kennedy selling the need to get a quick pinfall coming out swinging wild getting two 2 counts, more near falls and Benoit tries to lock in the Sharpshooter but Kennedy gets out Kennedy goes top rope but Benoit gets the knees up, Benoit locks his arms around Kennedy's waist and hits 7 big german suplex's Benoit going up top for the headbutt but Kennedy rolls out, Benoit gets the crossface on Kennedy but kennedy gets a hand on the rope, and Irish whips benoit into the exposed turnbuckle and gets a 3 count. Teddy Long comes out and breaks up Kennedy's celebration to talk about the next week. The now time to beat being 5:07.

Hello all

Alright well I've had the idea for awhile that a wrestleblog could be fun. I'd like to have reviews of weekly WWE/TNA shows, and ROH dvd reveiws. I guess I'll start with the SD! tonight, hope you all enjoy.
